During a community stakeholder session by the Department of Trade and Industry earlier this year a call was made by the community to set up a recognised community structure.
Its aim would be to engage on Atlantis Special Economic Zone for Green Technologies (ASEZ) matters.
Eleven members were nominated at the session, and five additional members were added during the August session to form the Interim ASEZ Stakeholder Working Committee. A focus group made up of community representatives form part of this Interim Committee.
The Interim Committee held its first meeting on 19 September, at which the drafting of Terms of Reference, which are deemed useful in terms of ways forward, processes and outcomes, took place. They pave the way for an Atlantis SEZ community structure to be elected, to act as a channel between the Atlantis SEZ, its forums and the community.
At the meeting the Interim Committee identified eight sectors that would make up the Atlantis SEZ Community Stakeholder Network (ASEZ-CSN). All three spheres of government and GreenCape were represented on the Interim Committee structure. The draft Terms of Reference will be presented at a meeting on Thursday 15 November at the Avondale Civic from 14:00 to 16:00. All community members are invited to attend it.
