The Atlantis Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) is committed to ensuring socio-economic development through community integration, skills and enterprise development activities said Christelle Brown training facilitator at the ASEZ.
“Our skills development programmes are aimed at providing specific training programmes to equip the Atlantis community to access GreenTech employment opportunities,” Brown said.
She explains the opportunities in the green economy will be created by the ASEZCo, existing industrialists, future investors, and the ASEZ’s partners.
A graduation ceremony was held on Friday, 18 November for the successful completion of training programmes in Early Childhood Development and Community Liaison Officer training.
The key objective of the skills development training initiatives is fundamental in the concept of upskilling local community members to ensure that high growth sectors have the skills pipelines they need to thrive globally, whilst creating employment opportunities for the residents of Atlantis.
Investors or partners who choose to settle in the zone will have access to skilled labour within the local community as a direct result of these types of training programmes she adds. Brown said the aim of these training courses is to teach and further develop current skills.
Ten Early Childhood Development (ECD) students received comprehensive training over the 12 months course and participated in a National Diploma Programme to solidify the application of the learning.
Seventeen graduating community liaison officer students received comprehensive accredited training over a two weeks course in to solidify the application of the learning.
