The City of Cape Town is throwing open the doors to the Atlantis Multi-purpose Centre (MPC) to keep children occupied during their winter break.

“It can be a challenge to keep the young ones busy for a few weeks during the school holidays, especially during winter when it’s cold and they can’t get outside to play,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security; and Social Services, Alderman JP Smith. “The facility offers winter programmes that ensure there is something for everyone, from younger children to teenagers. No one has to be bored this winter school holiday.”

A diverse range of both indoor and outdoor activities are on offer at the MPC — from board games and sport, to dancing and face-painting.

“The list of activities to keep young minds busy is exhaustive,” Smith said. “I want to encourage parents to send their children to these programmes to not only keep them safe and busy, but also give them the opportunity to socialise and learn. They can have some good old-fashioned fun in a safe and inclusive space. Holidays can also be expensive and all of the programmes are free of charge.”

The programme will run daily from Monday to Friday (26 June-16 July), 10:00-14:00, and is open to all ages.
