The City of Cape Town’s Basket of Services visited Mamre on 23 November with several City departments in attendance to present their services and assist residents of Ward 29 with enquiries or concerns.
The City says the event is part of its commitment to bringing services to residents and to make local government more accessible.
Ward 29 Councillor Allister Lightburn said: “As ward councillor of Ward 29 I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the City line departments that came out and assisted the residents of Mamre.
“Bringing services closer to the residents of Mamre. Bringing services closer to residents is one the cornerstones of a caring, inclusive and City of Hope for all.”
More than 200 people attended the event, with the following departments being present: Smart Cape (IT), Human Resources, Electricity, Library and Information, Environmental Health, The Business Hub, Water and Sanitation, Water Pollution Control, Sports and Recreation who brought the Come and Play programme, Human Settlements, Customer Relations, LG Seta (External Stakeholder), and Safety and Security (Traffic, Fire and Law Enforcement).
Alderman Theresa Uys, Mayco Member for Corporate Services, said: “The basket of services in Mamre was a successful conclusion to our Year of a Basket of Services, in which a number of wards were visited and services brought to citizens.
“We have plans to visit more wards next year, to assist people by bringing the City to them.”
