The City of Cape Town’s Urban Management Directorate hosted two local economic development (LED) workshops in Atlantis aimed at helping to develop the Local Economic Development Plan for the area.
The workshops focused on empowerment, human resource development, youth and skills development, Atlantis city bowl district (CBD) revitalisation, safety, mobility and infrastructure.
The workshops was facilitated by the Area Economic Development Department and held at the Avondale Civic Centre.
According to The City, it is facilitating a process to identify programmes and projects that will form part of its Local Economic Development Plan for the Atlantis area.
The thematic workshops are in process to facilitate the identification of LED interventions/projects according to key focus areas identified in the Community Action Plan for the area.
To date, workshops on Upliftment (Tourism, investment and transformation), Enterprise Development (Retail development, Special Economic Zone (SEZ)) and Informal economic development, were hosted in Atlantis.
