Absolutely awesome!
This is how 30 pupils of Wesfleur Primary School in Atlantis described their recent outing to the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve, better known to locals as the Atlantis Dunes.
The outing was part of the City of Cape Town’s honouring of late former President Nelson Mandela. Every year pupils of various schools in and around Atlantis are invited to spend the day at the dunes. It is a day of 4×4 rides, made possible by the Atlantis Off-Road Executive (ADORE). All the drivers donate their time and vehicles free of charge.
Other sponsors on the day were Total Parklands, which provided snack packs for the pupils, Nando’s, which donated lunch, ABB, which donated various gift bags, Powerglaze, which sponsored free car washes for all the drivers, and Chris McDuling of Basic Tours, who also helped make the day memorable for the pupils.
Sub council chairperson Cynthia Clayton and PR councillor Greg Bernardo handed out the gift packs to the pupils and also took part in the day’s events. After short introductions and ground rules laid, pupils and guests were treated to an hour of 4×4 driving and sand boarding in the dunes.
Brielle Ndjibu (12) says her stomach was rumbling when they went up and down a hill, but “I would love to come again!”
Kristina Pretorius (11) says she was very excited to go sand boarding for the first time. “I got it right the first time and will definitely go sand boarding again.”
Tristen Liedeman (11) says his favourite part of the day adventure, was going up and down the hills and he would like to come again.
Learners, teachers and sponsors agree, they had a wonderful day, full of fun and adventure.
