Local minstrels troupes recently marched through the streets of Atlantis to celebrate their performance and awards received at the annual minstrel carnival, which took place at Cape Town Stadium.
The Atlantis Community Entertainers (ACE) and West Coast Youth Development, both first division groups in the competition, won various awards, including most improved teams.
The group won trophies for the top three positions in the following categories: group song, Afrikaans combined chorus, best band, junior combined chorus, junior drum major, senior drum major, grand march past, adult sentimental, Afrikaans moppie, junior sentimental and English combined.
ACE obtained second position overall in the competition.
The minstrel committee would like to thank everyone who assisted them X Shah Zah, Marowane Fruit Stall, Aunty Charlene and Charmaine Julius.
