The City of Cape Town’s Energy teams attended to more than 10 000 streetlight-related issues from March to April owing to vandalism, theft and illegal connections across the metro, including Atlantis.

Theft and vandalism remain the biggest driver of streetlight and power outages. The City is urging our residents to watch over the power infrastructure in their areas and report any suspicious activity to the City’s Public Emergency Communication Centre on 021 480 7700, as soon as possible.

This will greatly help to reduce the scale of the damages caused by the theft and vandalism.

Reporting potholes

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate is encouraging all residents and road users to report potholes; the City repairs as many potholes as possible during the winter months to avoid further damage.

Residents can report potholes by using the City of Cape Town app, contacting the Customer Call Centre on 0860 103 089 or at contact.us@capetown.gov.za or logging a service request at capetown.gov.za/servicerequests.
