A man was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment at the Atlantis Regional Court this week for murdering his mother earlier this year.
Hesron Holburn (28) from Robinvale assaulted his stepfather and then went on to stab his 58-year-old mother, Verna Hendricks, who later died in hospital.
Hesron was convicted for the murder of his mother and was sentenced an additional five years for assaulting her 71-year-old husband. The sentences will run concurrently.
The investigating officer, Const Eldrige McKenzie, says Holburn entered into a plea bargain with the state before sentence was passed.
Capt Cyril Dicks, spokesperson for the Atlantis Police, says they welcome the investigation which was finalised within 10 months.
