The Police’s Crime Prevention Unit arrested an alleged gang member during standard patrols on Tuesday 16 May at about 18:30 in Charel Uys Drive, Protea Park.
According to spokesperson, Sgt Debi Alard, while patrolling the officers spotted a suspicious male walking down the street.
“When the male spotted the police he started to run. Officers chased the suspect during which, he dropped a zip gun.”
“One of the officers picked up the gun and the suspect was later apprehended by the police. The suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of a handmade firearm. It was also later discovered that the suspicious male is a suspect in a robbery investigation that took place in Atlantis.”
Milnerton Cluster Commander, Gen Aneeqah Jordaan and Station Commander, Col Zerilda Nortjé applauded the members for their good work. The suspect will appear in the Atlantis Magistrate Court once the investigation is complete.
