Two men, aged 22 and 28 years, arrested in the early hours of Saturday 4 November for unlicensed firearm possession are believed to be involved in an attempted murder.
Police spokesperson Cpt Cyril Dicks said police spotted a vehicle in Cybille Crescent, Avondale around 03:00 matching the description of one that two male suspects in an attempted murder, which took place in Robinvale earlier that evening, were allegedly driving.
“Two males were asked to step out of the vehicle,” Dicks said. “They were searched, and a car search followed shortly. Police officers found a firearm under the seat, along with ammunition.”
The men were charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. An investigation is still underway, but it is believed the two are linked to the attempted murder.
