Many young people have the idea that success refers to the car you drive, where you work or how many possessions you own.

I feel when you compare your situation right now to where you were five or 10 years ago and there has been growth, then you are well on your way to achieving success.

As the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day.

It is never too late to start building your dreams – even if you have to take a detour sometimes. Every brick you lay, every step you take, brings you a little closer to where you want to be.

In this world you get two types of people: The ‘I would like to build my house like this’ and then you get those who are already building their house, even if it means they have to change their plans somewhat at times. Choose which one you want to be now already, otherwise a decade from now you will still say, ‘I would like’, or ‘one day I will’.

Building your “Rome” or reaching your level of success requires dedication, hard work and an attitude that you will achieve it, maybe not today or tomorrow, but some day you will reap the fruits of your labour.

Let us, as young people, realise we are the leaders who need to pave the way for the next generation, just as our predecessors did for us. We need to stand up and make a change. Let’s start today. Let’s say NO to gansterism and drugs. Let’s say NO to violence against women and children, but also against our peers. You can only change the world by changing yourself first.
